BLUE PITCHER AND PEARS ON LACE - Part 3

Then the blue was added to the pitcher – man, oh, man – is that BLUE!!! (Very scary!)

  1. What beautiful shadows and reflections! The pitcher is certainly very blue, but it's lovely and the blue shadows on the lace tablecloth link everything together in the painting. Well done!

  2. This is so beautiful. I collect vintage ceramic pitchers, so this topic is near and dear to my heart. Is yours glass or ceramic? To me they are small sculptures, each a different shape and style. I've always wanted to do a still life with some of my pitchers. Maybe your painting will inspire me to do it finally, but not as painstakingly detailed as you do. Don't think I could manage that!

  3. Yep, that is BLUE!!! Love it - and the touches of blue in the shadow of the place and the reflections of the pears in the blue jug make it not so bossy and that reflection of lace? WOW!!! Deb, you are a lace-queen :) You are rockin' this painting! Will you put a bit of red into the inside shadow of the jug? Just thinking aloud about how to tie all the colors into one another...?

  6. Thank you all for the comments. It's "getting there"!
Kathy - it's my mom's fiestaware ceramic pitcher. You should definitely do some still lifes with your pitchers.
Rhonda - it's farther along now, and I THINK (how soon I forget!!!) I used some alizarin in the shadow.
Sandy - don't know if "brave" is a correct adjective for what I am!!!
    Stay tuned for more!

  9. My favorite part is the reflection on the underside of the spout!! A neat little touch that really adds a lot!! That's not to say I don't think the lace and pears are great too, cuz they are superb!!
