HYDRANGEA - 2
After I had the flowers completed (or so I thought) I added the stems. Then I realized that the flower was almost a ball which did not look good, so I added a few more flowerettes (is that what you call it on a flower like a hydrangea or a lilac???)
Delicious colors, Deb. And aren't those flowers supposed to be round? Anyway, I like this a lot. I might have left out that stem that goes in front of the bunch, but that's just me.
Your hydrangeas are fabulous! I have tackled a few hydrangea paintings and all those blooms can be tedious. Thanks to your blog post I learned about cell painting. That is the technique that I paint in an didn't realize there was a name for it.
Hydrangeas are so challenging to paint. And then, to decide if you should paint all the individual flowerettes/petals or not? I'm not surprised you've gone all out and have painted all of them....and beautifully I might add!
Rhonda - guess some are round! Carrie - funny how we "discover" something and then find out that others do the same thing. Great minds and all that! Thanks Gretchen.

Thanks Gretchen.
Another beautiful painting - you are pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow I can see the whole sheet, I realise how large this hydrangea is. Gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteVicki - it looks better on the "small screen"!
ReplyDeleteJoan - it's about a half sheet of w/c paper.
this is so beautiful, ESPECIALLY at this time of year. Another wonderful piece Deb!
