("Gentle" critiques - hmmmm, maybe I need to meet with your group!!!!!)
Joan - I always love your posts about you and your friend painting, and your garden painting with your Thursday sketch group. It always sounds so genteel and lovely - I paint a mental picture of you in a lovely English garden!
Vikki - hope you can find (or create) a group of like-minded people.
Jeanette - good luck with your new group - and love the fact you already have exhibitions scheduled!
Thank you all for your comments.debwardarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05225105239355671724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248783390421236582.post-30330384682449248422011-07-04T04:23:40.686-04:002011-07-04T04:23:40.686-04:00thanks to sharethanks to shareAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05494521367697286773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248783390421236582.post-90095765713818779462011-07-03T07:46:43.552-04:002011-07-03T07:46:43.552-04:00I've started a small local group just this yea...I've started a small local group just this year and agree that the benefits are tremendous.

Its good to get feedback, network, share skills and to be able to talk about art for hours when to other non-art people, eyes just glaze over.

We're having our first joint exhibition in July/August with another lined up for October. Then on Thursdays I have my ladies group come for an afternoon sketching - mostly in doors - together but July we always have a garden sketching party with pimms and strawberries and cream scones and in August go and sketch down by the river. Such fun working with others.Joan Sandford-Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04228835690449964257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4248783390421236582.post-81309845194195052062011-07-02T11:14:40.238-04:002011-07-02T11:14:40.238-04:00Deb, I have several groups with whom I pain, and t...Deb, I have several groups with whom I pain, and they are an invaluable part of my life, to say nothing of my artistic life. I find most artists to be among the most sharing and kind people ever; there is a sensitivity you find in this group of humans that I have not found in other groupings.

I paint every Thursday afternoon with my community art group and we have shared tears over sick and lost members, much laughter, and just generally solve the problems of the world while we paint. There is nothing more valuable than being a part of a group that misses you when you cannot be there, shares your concerns, encourages you when you are discouraged, gently critiques your work when it needs it and just are the best friends ever!

I am glad you feel this way, too.Watercolors by Susan Roperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15091873961431846148noreply@blogger.com
