GEORGIA WATERCOLOR SOCIETY NATIONAL EXHIBITION

My painting "All About the Labels" has been accepted into the GWS National Exhibit.  

For those of you in the area, the show runs March 13 through April 30 at the Bowen Center for the Arts, Dawsonville, GA.

HOOSIER SALON OPENING

Wednesday evening, July 29, was wonderful for me!

It was The Hoosier Salon Preview and Awards night in Indianapolis.  For once it did not rain when I drove up and we didn't get lost getting there - but we did get lost on the way home - and so it goes!  Thank goodness for GPS!!!

For this event reservations are required - which allows patrons to view the artworks and buy before the general public.  This also allows artists and patrons to make connections.

But it's also kind of "sneaky" - they don't let you know if you are about to win an award, but they know if you will be present to accept, due to your reservation!

Anyway - once again, in about mid-pack, my name was flashed on the screen - I won an award for Outstanding Watermedia and . . . the painting sold!  To the same man who purchased last year's painting, but this time I got to meet him.

I met a few new people, and had the unexpected delight to see a woman who lives just a few miles from me - it was her first time entering and her painting was accepted.  I was excited for her, since last year was my first time entering and exhibiting.

Art openings are always fun anyway, but especially so when your painting is selected for an award.

So - you may be asking "what painting sold ?"  Just look up at my blog header - "Luscious" has gone to a new home!

ACRYLIC ARTIST MAGAZINE, SUMMER 2015

Next up, I'm featured in the Summer issue of the new Acrylic Artist magazine.

I'm one of several in the section on "color".

ARTIST MAGAZINE - JULY/AUGUST 2015

This month I have received two accolades that I'm very excited about.  One is for a watercolor painting, the other for an acrylic painting!

First up - I won the watercolor category in the Artist Magazine All Media Competition!

THE ARTIST'S MAGAZINE - 31st Annual Art Competition - FINALIST!

A while back I received an email telling me that two of the paintings I entered into the Artist's Magazine 31st Annual Art competition had been awarded Finalist!

Gotta tell you - 2 out of 6,507 entries - yep, I'm pretty happy about that.

You will find my name listed on page 53 of the December issue - Still Life/Interior Category.

And when I saw who some of the other finalists in my category were, whose names are familiar to me  - Cecile Baird, Laurie Goldstein-Warren, Chris Krupinski, Jeffrey Larson, Jacob Pfeiffer, Carrie Waller - then I REALLY was happy!  Wow, at least I'm in very good company.

I entered 4 into the competition, and the paintings accepted were my Yin Yang Mums and Oriental Roses.
