Working on the stripes - from light to dark.

This entire painting was done with the QoR colors.  It took more glazing to get as dark as I needed to, but I'm not sure if it was the paper or the paint.  Once completed, I'm fairly content with the painting.

PEARS AND GLASS

This painting is done with the QoR paints on Fabriano hot press paper.  I forgot to take a photo of just the drawing, but here is the next step.  I have dropped some color onto the areas of the pears and shadows.

Then I began adding color to the berries and more color to the pears.

Just received notification that my painting "Blue Pitcher and Pears on Lace" (see post on April 24, 2010) was sold at the Georgia Watercolor Society National Exhibit!  It had also won an award (maybe why someone wanted to purchase it??)
Anyway - I'm very excited (can you tell!!) - but also a little sad.  You know how you have a few special paintings that surpass your expectations - that was one of mine - so I'm glad it sold but still a little sad not to see it again.

Then I darkened more of the pitcher reflection and shadows, and went over the background again.
I consider it finished! How about you?

P.S.  My husband told me that I do not give him enough credit for his critiquing expertise - and that I must tell all of you that it is due to his great critiquing skills that this painting turned out well, since he told me to darken the reflection on the pitcher - and that I (the artist) am "merely the paintbrush in the hand of the critic." 
Any comments on this????

Then the blue was added to the pitcher – man, oh, man – is that BLUE!!! (Very scary!)

ACRYLIC PEARS ON CANVAS(ES)

I had picked up these little 2x2 canvases some time ago, didn’t know what I’d ever use them for but they were cute! Then I had my brainstorm – to use them as little pears on a big pear.

Then we had our show coming up with the theme of “seven” so . . . . I painted the little pears . . . . . . . . to be placed on the big pear!
Here is the final piece. Can you figure out how this incorporates “7” and why I call it . . .
