CORNY 5 - FINISHED?????

This is definitely the most intricate painting I’ve ever done (way more than my lace, but probably less than Rhonda’s “Stranded”) – and I did really enjoy painting it!  And, believe it or not – NO MISKIT. Zero, zilch, nada!

For all of you who want to know how long it took – several hours over several days to get it all drawn out and ready for paint. Then poured and dried at least twice. Then painted over several weeks, some small sections, some larger, as long as I had patience that day!  And I did add a few small touches of acrylic here and there at the end.  I think it's done.

Does it look like corn to you, or just an abstract??? I think it might be one of those paintings that you look at a while and then all of a sudden you realize what it is you are looking at.

Corny, ½ sheet, Fabriano Artistico 140, w/c and acrylic

Beautifully painted. Love that pale blue pattern that moves the eye diagonally through the painting. Just gorgeous.

Congratulations, Deb! Well done!
I am not sure that I would determine immediately that it represents corn...but it is even at first sight some variation of plant life:-)

It is indeed very intricate and very interesting! I really like it.

Awestruck...the details and color are amazing. I have watch this come to life so I knew it was corn from the beginning. I once photoed corn in a field like this...walking through it and taking photos in al directions (we had corn behind us in Wisconsin) but I could never come to grips with how to depict it! You have nailed it, Deb!!! You are my hero. I would love to try a "small" piece somewhat on that style. Where did you put acrylic and why? Just curious.

Wow, this is pretty amazing. I really like this one. Wonderful detail to get lost in and beautiful colors to draw one in. Pat yourself on the back, it is beautiful!

Just looking at it makes my head spin! How did you mange this complex painting will be a mystery to me:) But you deserve Kudos!Great work, Deb.

Sandy - I like that blue, too!
Christiane - thank goodness you recognized it! "Interesting" sums it up!
Vicki and Arti - "lost" and "head spinning" are good adjectives for this one!
Ginny - you are a hoot! I put a few dots of acrylic on the tops of the main cobs and a few touches in some areas where I thought I'd lost too much light - probably 10 or so dabs about the size of a pea, that's it.

ut oh another pour!! LOL watch out kitchen sink!! deb, silliness aside this is scrumptious!! wow!! the patience, the detail and i did know it was corn!!! wonderful painting,, good to watch you work thru that spot when you think all is lost... to come out the other side, with an awesome painting!! way to go!!

Wow, thanks Kathy!
Cindi - it started as a pour but obviously is mostly direct painted after that, so the sink is safe! Glad you recognized it as corn, too! You have been quiet lately - what have you been up to??? - hope the answer is "lots of painting"!!!

I really like this one. The blue is beautiful. You are crazy to do this but guess what , YOU DID IT! Remember the ropes that Sharon did? I thought it was interesting how you paint from one side to the other. I have never done that, I will have to try it.

Hi Linda - yes, I must be crazy! This painting just made sense to go in small areas, side to side - I don't normally paint this way.

Beautiful painting with a nice color burst zigzagging the viewer through the stocks. I feel like reaching in and touching this texture, but alas it's only a flat surface. Well done!

Wonderful finish on a complex painting, Deb. I like the tonal quality and all those wonderful shapes and color.

Thanks Stan and Ann! I may try another similar painting (!?!?!) but think I'll go with something simple right now!!!

BRAVA! This is a prize-winner, Deb :) So much interest from the shapes to the colors to the "it looks like..." factor that is a surprise. Like you said, you can look at this a while as an abstract and then see the organic details and then...standing in a cornfield!

Thanks Rhonda! Hope all is well on the home front!!
