BALL JARS FINISHED

I did a few more “nit picky” things and now I think it’s finished.

Sometimes you just enjoy a painting right from the start, and this was one of those. I enjoyed every mark I put on the paper and every stroke of paint that went down! Wow, that just hardly ever happens.
For some reason my husband grew fond of this one, too, and was interested in the whole process!

I’m pretty happy with this one.

Great title - having lived in Muncie for years (home of the Ball jar, Ball Hospital, Ball State University, etc.), I really enjoy this one. It's well painted and the colors are humming softly with great textures, too. Can't wait to see this one in person sometime.

Deb, it is a winner. I love the colors and the nostalgic feeling the painting creates. You should be very proud of your work.

Thanks Christiane - glad you "got it" - and sometimes I am proud - and this is one of those times!!

Love the finished piece, Deb. The peeling paint, the shading in the jars. It all looks great.

This is really a nice one Deb. You handled the wire bales superbly! Just the right amount of rust and texture.

Hi Pat - thanks. I do love painting nostalgia!
Ann, thanks so much for the compliment.
Thanks Carrie - and thanks for telling me those things are called "bales" since I didn't know what they were!!!

Looks perfect to me, Deb! I was just writing to Rhonda I usually don't go for painted representations of wood, but you nailed it here without trying to get cute.
On another note, I see the pic at the top of your blog. Bear with me...I'm not into still lifes (normally), not into reflection pieces (normally), and not into lace paintings (normally). But that painting is a conspicuous exception, it's really brilliant. A barnburner, be careful what you do with it!

Brilliant Deb, this has that reminiscing spirit, can't stop looking from the jars to the cracked paint on the shelf to the jars again... one of my favourites of yours without doubt

When everything falls into place, the enjoyment shows through in the painting. It's a beautiful work, Deb, one of my favorites. It has a peaceful, almost wistful feel to it. Love the lettering and the subtle color complements on the jars.

Wow Nick - thanks for the vote of confidence on the jars. As for the pitcher - guess you liked it even though you like none of it's parts! As far as what to do with it - it's sold, so guess it's not a concern now!!
Teresa and Lisa - thanks for your comments, they mean a lot. I found out that subtle is hard!! But I loved creating this painting!

This is gorgeous. The light and colours are perfect. It makes me want to go dig out some Ball jars and paint them!
