I entered one painting into this year's ViewPoint (sponsored by the Cincinnati Art Club) which was accepted! I look forward to seeing it hang at the Cincinnati Art Galleries this year.
This is a beautiful venue, about a block from the Procter and Gamble headquarters here in Cincy, with full length glass windows on 2 sides. Last year's event was well attended, as I hope this one will be.
The juror was John Ruthven who accepted 72 paintings out of 400 submitted.

RETREAT PAINTING - PART 3
Then, perhaps a lapse in memory, since I cannot seem to find any photos of the piece until it is basically complete. I simply continued adding color to the fruit and china, then added in shadows, then tweaked some of the lace shadows.
Here is the completed piece.

GREATER CINCINNATI WATERCOLOR SOCIETY ANNUAL JURIED SHOW
While I was away, my painting "Industrial Revolution" won 1st place at our GCWS Annual Juried Show currently showing through the weekend of July 6-7 at the Woman's Art Club Cultural Center (aka "The Barn") in Mariemont, Ohio. We were able to extend the show a week!
The Judge was Ken Landon Buck - he's got a good eye!!! (LOL)
For more information on the show, you can go to our GCWS blogspot.

I'M B - A - A - A - A - C - K
Well, I promised to show you some photos of my work post-retreat, and I’ve been hearing rumbles of discontent lately since I have still failed to do so.
So, first I’ll treat you to some whine:
The evening we arrived home I dropped my friends off at 5 p.m., arrived home at 5:30 p.m., got the cooler out of the back of the car, went into the kitchen and put that away, called to my husband to help me quickly unload. As soon as that was done, I had 5 minutes to “freshen up” and then we were off to meet friends at the end of our driveway to go to one of the local Firemen’s Festivals! So, after driving about 300 miles I got to take another ride – in the back of a Dodge Ram pickup (fortunately for me they had a running board!)
The next day I spent getting back to “normal” – unpacking, putting things away, doing laundry, straightening up the house and locating all of the items that were placed in the cabinets and drawers in the wrong spots!
After that, classes, things to do for GCWS, running errands, etc. – in general, life keeps getting in the way!
So, enough excuses for you???
Now I’m trying to get some paintings completed and some started – I’m determined to carve out more paint time for myself each week.
So – finally – here is a painting that I completed on my retreat week.
For some reason either I didn’t take initial photos or I’ve misfiled them in the computer, but I began this painting by putting a beige-y wash over the lace portion of the piece. Then I began to systematically paint the lace in a negative manner.
