IT'S A DILEMMA! - 2

Well, I’m not unhappy with this one, but not sure what to do with the background.
My husband says to make a “mansion” in the background with a driveway sweeping down toward the car; my friend says if I do that she will never speak to me again! What’s a gal to do??? I think this one may sit a while and/or never be completed!

(I should have thought it through to the end but was just wanting to do an old shiny car – oh well . . . . . )

You know how some folks call their paintings “Untitled” (which bugs me!!). Well, guess I could call this one “Unfinished”!!!

I'd just prewet the bg and drop in a variety of greens and blues. A mansion? Really? It's official, your hubby is crazy! ha ha

At first read I completely agreed wit hyour friend, a monsions sounded so hmmmmm... but then I think it depends on the alternatives, right? I can imagine a lot of horrible things you cound put there much better than a mansion O_O. Not very helpful, I know :P hahaha!
But up till now it does look wonderful so yeah, let it rest and call it Unfinished (just by now)

Hi Deb,
I do that quite often [well, almost all the time] myself. You might like to try a very soft background wash of complementary colors, insinuating grass.

It looks great! As finishing...you have green in the reflection, so why not put a blurred green background, as if bushes out of focus. Just a thought.

No harm in waiting for sometome, Deb!Even I am unable to help you here:)I guess it looks good as it is!

On second thoughts, you could add the trees of the background in soft shades, leaving out the other car..after all, it has reflections of leaves all over.

This is too beautiful to leave unfinished. I think just a hint of sky and trees in the background would be plenty. You don't want to take any attention away from that beautiful car. Tell DH that you will paint him another one later.

I like it just the way it is!

My first reaction would have been to do the blurred sky/grass thing too. But the more I think about it, the more I like the mansion idea (still blurred as just a suggestion) because it would be different. You might want to try sketching it and painting on acetate first to try it out.

Hi all - Looks like the grass/trees is winning! My hubby is adamant about the mansion! I may do it just for the heck of it!
Kathy - good idea!
Rhonda - it's been official for years!!

The car looks great! I love the reflections in the chrome of the car and the cropped composition.

Here's a random comment from someone who just "next blogged" onto your blog. How about doing something that really contrasts against the car? Like a dilapidated shack or a crumbling warehouse? Now that would be interesting.
- Hope you solve your dilemma!

Thanks Beverly - glad you stopped by! Hope you are enjoying your classes; the students' work looks great.
Fyodor - I'll take your suggestions to my dilemma under advisement!
