GEORGIA WATERCOLOR SOCIETY 2014 NATIONAL EXHIBITION

"Swirls"
I got a notice that my painting “Swirls” has been accepted into the GWS National Exhibition.

Ally Benbrook, Chris Krupinski and Susan Stuller were a few of the artists' name that I recognized, but I might recognize the work of others when I see it.  I'm not a "name dropper" - really! - but it's always exciting to know that your painting is hanging in the same show with some of the "big name" artists!

So far, each time I have entered a painting into any of the Georgia shows my work has been accepted!  Always different work (obviously) and different judges.  But - - - I know better than to get complacent and brag-y!!!

Because . . .  then there is TWSA – have never gotten into that, didn’t even enter this year – maybe next year I’ll have something I feel is strong enough.

I’ve also never gotten into Louisiana, so gave up on them.

This particular painting was also entered in another show, but didn’t make the cut.

Just goes to show, as I always say, you should not get upset when you don’t get into a show.  (And don't let it "go to your head" when you do!!!!)

If you are in the area, stop in and see the show!

Congratulations! This is a beautiful painting. You are so funny because I think of you as one of the "big names".

Someday I hope I'll have a painting hanging in a show near one of yours, a Big Name artist to me! But, maybe not TOO near, it will outshine whatever I do. I love the yellow and the black and white stripes, and especially the reflected colors on the fabric.

Katherine and Vicki - ain't no big name here! Nor any big head! But thanks anyway!
Katherine - I'd be honored to hang in a show with YOU! Your work is really outstanding. Thanks for your comments on the painting, too. Glad you enjoyed it.

Congratulations Deb, well-deserved with this great painting. I swear, though, that you are a glutton for punishment with those stripes! You must have been seeing stripes in your vision for hours after walking away from this painting. Wow!

Susan - yep, had to do those stripes in stages with breaks in between!

Deb - just opened my newly delivered April issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine. WOWOWOWOWOWOW. Not a big name? False modesty! The rest of you reading this, turn to page30!!!!

I'm So excited for you!

(Oh, and now I'll go back to the magazine and read the article: seeing the painting sent me right to the keyboard)

YOWZER!!! This painting is gorgeous - and I got my Watercolor Artist mag (April issue), too - there was Deb Ward as a top 5 winner in the Watermedia Showcase competition!!! Um, think you'll have to rethink your status now, Deb :) Just don't get a big head - with your little body it will look really strange! ha ha
