MARBLES -1

When my friend and I went to Stan Hywet Hall, after we had lunch, we walked through the gift shop and saw a box of marbles.  I immediately thought "what a great painting they would make" so I took a few photos.

I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate the game rules with the marbles and decided to enlarge both and then superimpose them.  Since I do not have any fancy editing programs, I do this by "hand" on the copier.

Once I had that all worked out, I traced the photos onto Arches 140 CP and was ready to begin painting.

A great idea, and very ambitious! Looking forward to seeing how you develop it.
(Do you use a light box to trace?)

Oh, it's going to be one of those very intricate paintings that you do so well. I am really looking forward to seeing progress photos!

Thanks Vicki and Christiane.
Laura, nope - I blow up the photo and in this case cut it up, too, and then trace. Then I carefully go over the whole thing again with my photo in hand and re-draw or draw in lines and shapes - it's a "process" but I find it relaxing!

Oh my! All those marbles! While I agree is a great image, wow, its intricate. The detail freak side of me loves it, the impressionist side of me runs and hides. :)

It will be fabulous, can't wait to see it emerge.

Jeanette - I know what you mean! But I enjoy all that detail.
Kim - stay tuned!

Something to keep you busy on a cold, icy, snowy day! And here I thought you were finally admitting that you'd lost all your marbles! ha ha Have a good one - stay safe!
