WIN SOME - LOSE MOST!

Recently I had entered a few national shows - got into Georgia, not the others.
Disappointed? - a little.
Surprised? - not at all!
When I know I have a strong piece, I'll keep trying.
Having seen the art jurying process first hand, I know that it's possible my work was considered, that it came really close to getting in - but on that particular day - at that particular moment in time - with that particular judge - my painting was found lacking.
Some artists get really uptight if they don't get into the shows they enter, but - "Art" is so subjective - let's just say that I won't be papering my walls with any rejection notices!
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Yep, it's not a good thing to be too competitive and think you'll get in any competition - it all depends on soooo many things (even if the judge hates flowers or cats or...whatever you've chosen to paint). I didn't get into a recent competition I tried for - no big deal. I could see by what did get in that the quality was very very high.

Congrats for getting into Georgia! As for the rest there's always time and more chances in the future, way to go Deb!

Seeing names of some who did get in (like Salminen!) I would have felt like a winner if I had been accepted! May try again next year if I think I have something show-worthy then.

Haven't been writing for while (am now packing up my studio!) But I did love the pear w/lace painting a lot!
I haven't entered anything lately but you may inspire me! And I love that Judy Morris juried your painting.
