PASTEL CHILI PEPPERS - Part 1

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends!

As I continue my venture into pastels, here are some chili peppers.

I began the same way as the onion – drawing in charcoal and finding the darks.

Hello Deb
I liked your Onion and these chillies have come out great. In fact I have been musing over pastels for some time.Bought them, tried them but something was not right.I have nobody watching over my shoulder so its difficult to know what is actually wrong! How do you preserve a pastel painting, Deb? I tried using a fixative but it darkened everything!I would be watching you for tips :)

Thanks Christiane, hopefully I'll keep improving!
Arti - I'm the last person to give you advice, having just begun! No one is watching over my shoulder, either - I'm on my own! The pastel painters I know say NEVER use fixative!!! As for framing - you frame a pastel under glass - use a spacer between the painting and the mat so any dust falls inside the mat - a reputable framer will know this and be able to do it properly for you. For now, I've got wax paper in between mine, laying them flat.
